Super Bowl Sunday Run

Usually rainbows follow the rain, but this double beauty was a harbinger of the storm to come. Undaunted, over 500 people braved the elements to earn their game-time guacamole on the Guadalupe. Kudos to the participants and our wonderful volunteers. Many thanks to sponsors San Jose Water Company, Hardcastle Auto Body, Rose Garden Auto Care, AJ's Auto Detailing, and ValleyCrest.

Adopt-a-Rose

Looking for a distinctive Valentine's gift? A bouquet of roses will last a week, but a rose bush will bloom throughout the year. With your donation of $50, we will help you select the perfect rose and prepare a gift box for your Valentine. Click here for more details.

River Clean Ups

Volunteers from Evergreen Valley HS Interact Club helped with our first river clean up of 2014. Last year, we mobilized 660 volunteers for 20 clean ups.

Rose Pruning Classes

Wednesdays & Saturdays

Hands-on rose pruning lessons will be offered at the San Jose Heritage Rose Garden every Wednesday and Saturday, through February 26th. Lessons begin promptly at 8:30 am.

Gardening with Cold Frames and Mini-Greenhouses

Saturday, February 22nd

Start your garden out on the right foot! Greenhouses are not just for the winter; join Master Gardener Sharon Johnson for this workshop to about the many seasonal uses of cold frames and greenhouses. Participants will learn an easy way to build a cold frame or mini greenhouse as a place to start your seeds, acclimatize your nursery plants before setting them in your garden, as a place to keep the plants you don't have time to plant, or to start seedlings for an earlier harvest. Spring Walking Series

Saturdays, March 1st through April 5th

Age 18 and up

Burst out of winter with a new walking series! Join fitness instructors Kristin Strellis and Janet Schumacher for a 6 week Spring Walking Series. Step by step, you'll be healthier as a result of this class that leads you through the paved trails along the Guadalupe River. Learn proper stretches, toning exercises, and walking technique as you meet others who enjoy exercising outdoors along the way. Varied fitness levels will be offered. Click here to sign up.
