Rotary PlayGarden Grand Opening - May 23

Please join Rotary, the City of San Jose, Guadalupe River Park Conservancy, donors, friends and family for a brief program celebrating the PlayGarden, followed by a ribbon-cutting ceremony and fun in the park.

Saturday, May 23, 2015 - 10:00 am

Park hours will be 10 am to 6:30 pm during the summer. Two areas will be available for birthday/picnic reservations; see www.grpg.org/rpg for more information.

Bike to Work Day Thursday, May 14th

Look for our Energizer Station on the trail just north of Coleman Ave on Thursday, May 14th, from 6 am to 9 am. Stop by for a piece of Hobee's coffee cake. Tallies from Bike to Work Day and the annual September trail count provide valuable data that supports continued investment in our trail network.

Female and feel like exploring? GRPC and Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition member Candice Stein is leading a women's bike ride along the Guadalupe River Trail to historic Alviso on Saturday, May 30th at 10 am. For more information about the 16-mile and 22-mile options, click here.

Greywater Basics: Reusing Household Water In Your Landscape!

Saturday, May 30th 10:00am to 1:00pm Ages 18 and Up $10/members, $15/non-members

Join certified greywater installer Alan Hackler to learn how to safely and easily reuse your laundry, sink or shower water in your home garden. In this three-hour workshop, Alan will cover local codes and regulations, greywater safe soaps, and the simple plumbing modifications needed to redirect your household water into your backyard garden. The second half of the workshop will be hands-on, and participants will have the chance to work with the parts and tools necessary to install a simple greywater system. In addition to being a certified greywater installer, Alan Hackler is a talented landscape designer and the owner of Bay Maples landscaping.

Bonus: you'll help improve habitat for butterflies, hummingbirds, and beneficial insects.
