Education Programs


Nature Education for All Ages, Interests, and Abilities

GRPC hosts a variety of educational programs for adults, children, groups, schools, and individuals, including those with special needs. Our programs are centered around the Guadalupe River watershed and the natural and cultural history of San Jose.

Field trips for K-12: Topics include the lifecycles of salmon and trout, geocaching, the history of Santa Clara Valley and San Jose, archaeology, flower anatomy and pollination, and vermiculture and composting. All field trips align with California State Education Standards. Scholarships available.

Homeschool Program: Four-week long series for homeschool students that cover natural science topics.

Special Needs Field Trips: Outdoor field trips designed for those with special needs.

Small Group Programs: Outdoor field trips at GRPC that accommodate small groups like clubs, birthday parties, Mom’s groups, and youth groups.

Badge Program: Special field trips and projects designed to fulfill badge requirements for boys and girls’ scouting clubs.

Water Wizard Festival: A lively festival celebrating the Guadalupe River Watershed for more than 300 students in third grade.

Adult Programs: Topics include composting, greywater basics, yoga, guided hikes, bike tours, flower arranging, wreath-making, organic gardening, photography, local history, and more!

 

 

All events will be held at the Guadalupe River Park & Gardens Visitor & Education Center, located at 438 Coleman Avenue.

To maintain appropriate student to teacher ratios and to ensure that we have sufficient materials, we now require that participants register at least 24 hours in advance for all of our education programs.
