Bike to Work Day
Energizer Station
In
coordination with the Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition, the Friends of
GRPG will host an Energizer Station from 6 – 9 am on May 15th. We’ll be
set up along the trail, just outside our building on 438 Coleman Avenue.
Stop by for coffee, pastries, and information about trails and cycling
in the South Bay. In addition to participating in Bike to Work Day,
Friends of GRPG staff members are taking part in the month long Team
Bike Challenge sponsored by
www.511.org. Lucy, Jennifer, Linda, Phil, and Leslee – team GRPG
Rocks! - will earn points each day in May that they ride a bicycle
instead of driving to work, school, or the store.

Help Keep San Jose Clean Volunteer for National River Clean Up Day
The winter storms brought us some much needed rain, but left behind some
unwanted litter and debris along the Guadalupe River. With each rise and
fall of the river, trash and materials were brought downstream and left
either on the flood plain north of downtown San Jose, or washed out
towards Alviso and the San Francisco Bay. Take your spring cleaning out
into your community and join Friends of Guadalupe River Park & Gardens
for National River Cleanup Day Saturday, May 17 from 9:00 am -12:00 pm.
Pick up trash, remove debris and see what strange and interesting items
have been deposited along the rivers banks. Advanced registration is
required. Please wear close-toed shoes, long pants, and sun protection
and be ready for a morning of handy help and hard work. We’ll provide
litter sticks, bags and gloves.
To register for this event call (408) 298-7657
or send e-mail to
info@grpg.org. This
event will meet at the Visitor & Education Center located at 438 Coleman
Ave, San Jose, 95110.
Note: The Friends of GRPG are coordinating the clean up for the
Guadalupe River between Coleman Avenue and HW 880, just one of many
sites. If you are interested in other sites,
