The San Jose Heritage Rose Garden (HRG) is a unique collection of 3,600 antique and modern roses. Established in 1995 through an extensive community effort, the garden contains 2,600 varieties, more varieties than any other rose garden in the Western Hemisphere. The garden is open daily from dawn to dusk and there is no admission charge. Docent-led tours for pre-scheduled groups can be arranged. While the City of San Jose supplies materials, it is maintained primarily by volunteers. Projects will vary with the time of the year. Volunteers can learn on how to maintain their own roses or just enjoy helping with the maintenance of this special rose garden. There are ongoing volunteer workdays every Saturday and Wednesday 9:00 am to noon (8:00am to 11:00am June-September). We also host special summer evening sessions on the second Tuesdays of June through September from 5:00pm-7:30pm.

Podcasts: we are developing a series of podcasts about the HRG. Check back often as more will be added soon. For now they are audio only but eventually we hope to add video. These mp3 files can be listened to here on our web site, or downloaded onto to your portable listening device.
