Zero Waste Event!

We've decided to make this a Zero Waste Event as defined by the City of San Jose. We hope you can help us meet the requirements...here are some of the things we are doing:

  • 4 Eco-Stations will be strategically located throughout the event. They will offer visitors the option to place things in the trash, in the recycling bin, or in the composting bin. Volunteers will staff each station to help people make the right choice.
  • All of the food we will be serving will be compostable intself and be served on paper products that can be composted.
  • Many of the materials used to produce the event are reusable, such as burlap table clothes, clay pot booth markers, signage, etc.
  • Compost will be available in plastic bags, but there will also be some set aside for folks who bring their own buckets...next year, after people get the message, all of it will be for bucket bringers only.
  • We've gone almost entirely digital...very few paper fliers were printed this year!
