The only hummingbird common in Northern California during winter, the Anna's Humminbird is notable for the beautiful, rose—red plumage on the heads of the males. Females have a delicate, rose—colored throat, and both sexes have emerald backs.
Fun Fact Using plant fibers, spider webs, lichen, and feathers, females build their nests on tree branches, shrubs, vines, and under sheltered eaves.
