The Barn Owl is the most widely distributed species of owl, and one of the most widespread of all birds. It is generally a medium sized owl. It is a pale white, long-winged, long-legged owl with a short squarish tail. The light face with its heart shape and the black eyes give the flying bird an odd and startling appearance.
Fun Fact Farmers create “owl-holes” in their barns to promote the nesting of Barn Owls. This is because keeping Barn Owls around reduces the amount of pesky vermin around the crops.
