The European Starling is non-native to our parl. European Starlings are common throughout North America, found in urban and suburban areas and woodlands up to 7,000 ft. Accustomed to city living, they forage on berries, seeds, invertebrates, and garbage. They have black, iridescent plumage and beautiful yellow, green, and purple markings on the back feathers.
Fun Fact In 1891, two—hundred European Starlings were introduced to New York's Central Park. Now they inhabit the entire North American continent, except for certain parts of Alaska and the highest mountain elevations.
