Edible, Medicinal, & Survival Uses of Wild Plants

Date - 06/10/18
9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Join expert Ryan Taylor in partnership with Guadalupe River Park Conservancy to delve into the beauty, mystery, and importance of wild plants! We will be taking an engaging, educational walk through Guadalupe River Park & Gardens unlike you’ve ever experienced before.

In this class, we will be exploring the vast different edible, medicinal, and survival-uses of both native and invasive plants.

Bring your pen and notebook, as we’ll be diving into their identification properties, how to process & prepare them, and how to “care-take” them! With “care-taking”, we strive to leave the habitat of the species we’ve harvested -from and surrounding- stronger and healthier than before we arrived.

Program is for individuals ages 12+ (children must be accompanied by an adult chaperone).

$25/members, $30/non-members

About the Instructor, Ryan Taylor:

With an Environmental Studies Degree, career as a Park Ranger, and twelve years combined of studying and teaching Native American skills, nature awareness/Identification, and conservation, Ryan’s greater-vision is to merge the two worlds of environmental science and the sacred primitive knowledge, as they can both greatly benefit from each other. Teaching these sacred-skills with the “Care-taker ethic” has become a passionate-path within his life, to connect people to nature, show them how to thrive in nature while caring for it, and empower stewardship within them.
