In this issue:

Rotary PlayGarden Shade

Thanks to our advocacy, the Rotary PlayGarden will be getting more shade this summer; construction over the western lawn will begin in July. With over 618,000 visitors to date, we know that this is at the top of PlayGardeners' wish list and thank Public Works Director Matt Cano and Deputy PRNS Director Nicolle Burnham for their support of this project.

Adopt a Rose for Mother's Day

This Mother's Day, Adopt a Rose for Mom (and anyone who symbolizes "Mom"!) at the San Jose Heritage Rose Garden and give the gift that keeps on living. Proceeds from our rose adoption program support the upkeep of Guadalupe Gardens' unique collection of over 2,600 varieties of roses.

Rose adopters are invited to Be Our Guest for Tea and Roses on Saturday, May 11th, 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. Come see the garden in bloom! Volunteers will be on hand to help you locate your rose and learn about the garden. Refreshments will be provided.

Pre-order online and we'll have your gift package waiting, just in time for Mother's Day! Or choose your rose and take home your gift package the same day.

Meet Volunteer: Carlos
Carlos has been volunteering with GRPC since January while recovering from a work injury and has been helping us in the office, at the PlayGarden, and on the grounds of the park as well. His favorite thing about volunteering with us is interacting with people and sharing information about our programs and what they can do within their own communities to help the environment. His favorite natural feature in the park are the redwoods (yes, we have some!). Thanks for all you do Carlos!

So many ways to give:
