Sculpture Unveiling

San Jose Water Company unveiled the latest sculptures in the Shirley Lewis Rotary Sculpture Walk during a community celebration on July 20th. Their generous $150,000 donation, commemorating the company's 150th anniversary, funded six installations along the river. The sculptures pictured above (between the Visitor & Education Center and the Rotary PlayGarden) are the northernmost ones. Additional installations are found along the trail, terminating with two adjacent to the fence at Children's Discovery Musuem (bottom photos). Many thanks to San Jose Water Company for significantly expanding this family-friendly means of exploring the park!

Summer Programs

We welcomed Boys & Girls Club members from Alum Rock, Levin, and Luther Burbank last month for environmental education programming that included activies at the Guadalupe River and in the gardens, and a bike ride on the Guadalupe River Trail.

Leadership San Jose

Please consider supporting the Leadership San Jose Class of 2018 project in the park by purchasing tickets to the Charity Classic 2018: A Night in Jurassic Park, to be held on November 3rd.

Leadership San Jose is enhancing our outdoor classroom space along the Guadalupe River so that it may become a premier outdoor education destination for San Jose and Santa Clara County schools and residents. It will feature two outdoor murals highlighting our local ecology along the banks of the river, and will include engaging facts, directions, and way-finding signage along the surrounding trails.

Tickets to the Charity Classic support the project and are currently $75 each (early bird pricing).

Her favorite thing about volunteering at GRPC is that the people here are so energetic and enthusiastic about the environment, nature, education, and the animals that call our visitor center home! Thanks for all that you do for us Lauren!
