We are pleased to announce that the Rotary PlayGarden is expanding to the north (pink area above) thanks to County of Santa Clara and City of San Jose support. What would you like to see in the expansion? We're collaborating with the City of San Jose's Dept. of Parks, Recreation & Neighborhood Services to gather community input -- visit us in person at the PlayGarden and complete the survey linked below through November 17th.

You can also provide input at community meetings at the Guadalupe River Park & Gardens Visitor & Education Center on January 9th and February 25th, 2020, 6:30-8:00 pm.

Take the survey.

Heritage Rose Garden Donation

We are grateful to receive a $1,000 donation from the Heritage Roses Group Bay Area for the Mel Hulse Fund in support of the Heritage Rose Garden. Established in memory of the garden's former volunteer director, the Mel Hulse Fund enables us to enhance the garden's unique collection of heritage roses. Haven't visited recently? It's still a great time to enjoy the fall bloom!

Guadalupe Gardens Development

After months of planning and preparation, we are excited to announce the completion of phases 1 & 2 of split-rail fence contruction in Guadalupe Gardens. The new fence lines your future Gardens along Coleman Avenue and Hedding Street, boosting the aesthetic of the area. A final phase will follow along Asbury Street. We would like to give a huge thank you to the volunteers who worked so hard to build it and share their expertise -- Rebuilding Together, Habitat for Humanity, and San Jose Water -- and Santa Clara Valley Open Space Authority for providing Measure Q grant funding for this project.

Volunteer Corner

San Jose Water helped us with split-rail fence installation along Hedding Street. If you don't already follow our volunteer Instagram page, you can do so by following @volunteergrpc to see the kind of work community members like yourself are doing for our park!

SPUR Lunchtime Forum

Thursday, November 14th
12:30 pm

Join our Executive Director, the City of San Jose, and SWA Group at SPUR as we explore what's next for San Jose's public spaces. With nearly 100 regional and neighborhood parks, as well as over 53 miles of trails, San Jose has developed a robust program for investing in open space and recreation on a citywide scale. How might this program serve as a lesson to other South Bay cities, and how can these types of places catalyze a sense of community in our neighborhoods?

Christmas Bird Count

Sunday, December 15th
8:00 am to noon

The is a census of early winter bird populations. More than 50,000 volunteer observers across the Americas take part in counting birds in their particular area. The result is over a century of data on bird populations from North to South America, which is used by scientists to monitor bird population changes over time.

Please join us to complete the census of birds in the section of Guadalupe River Park & Gardens from Coleman Ave. to Hedding St. Knowledge of bird species is desirable.
