Outdoor Learning

We are grateful for the support of Adobe, the David and Lucile Packard Foundation, Santa Clara Valley Open Space Authority, and the Shortino Family Foundation for funding our education programs. During the last school year, we provided programming for nearly 6,000 students. The majority came from Title One schools and received program fee and transportation scholarships thanks to our generous funders.

Our weekly Beginning Environmental Explorers (BEE) program resumes September 5th and is held in the Rotary PlayGarden amphitheater. This FREE program is designed for children ages 2-6 years old and acts as an introduction to environmental science. Classes are taught by the Conservancy's environmental educators.

Volunteer Corner

A spirited group from Adobe helped us add a fresh layer of weed-suppressing mulch to the Rotary PlayGarden flowerbeds.

A hearty thanks to all the volunteer groups that toiled to make GRPG a more beautiful place this past July:

Adobe Systems
Apple
Hope Services
Intel
Mission Bay

Morgan Autism Center
Palo Alto Networks
South Bay Heritage Rose Group
UC Master Gardeners of Santa Clara County

And that is only the groups! We also appreciate the scores of individuals who come out weekly to make a difference. We logged 1,268 volunteer hours in July.

Meet Volunteer: Pat
Pat has been volunteering at the Heritage Rose Garden for "at least 12 years" after seeing an advertisement in the San Jose Mercury News for pruning classes. She enjoyed the class and decided to volunteer her time in the garden. She enjoys the people she volunteers with, seeing the results of the work she does, and the garden itself very much. Thanks, Pat, for your dedication!

So many ways to give:
