Coronavirus Updates

At this time, more than ever, we are reminded of the important role parks play in our community’s physical and social well-being. We hope you are well and safe, and that our park serves as a welcome respite for you, especially now.

Here at the River Park:

  • The safety of our community and staff is a top priority. In adherence to Santa Clara County direction, the Visitor & Education Center is closed. You may reach staff via email at during regular office hours.
  • The Rotary PlayGarden is reopening on Saturday, January 23, 2021. Read more to plan your visit.
  • The park and trail remain open, and to support the mental and physical health of our community, we are encouraging folks to visit the River Park to exercise and remain active, while practicing proper social distancing.
  • While some of our programs are paused, staff have transitioned many of our education programs and volunteer opportunities to remote and socially-distanced formats. Other programs, such as Rose Adoption, remain available too.
  • The grass is lush and more diverse wildlife are spotted again along the River Park. While we shelter-in-place, our Valley’s natural asset continues to persevere.

We can’t wait to reopen fully and welcome back our supporters. The shelter-in-place order has highlighted something our board president, Jodi Starbird, mentioned in her recent message: that the intangible importance of parks is most apparent in times of crisis, but has always served this function for our community now and in our future.
