Have your homeschool child learn environmental education in downtown San Jose!
The CHIRP Program provides an interactive, outdoor education experience while utilizing the Guadalupe River Park gardens and amenities to teach a variety of environmental themes.
Students build communication skills by working together on experiments and hands-on activities, with lessons encouraging students to form their own connection to nature while reinforcing environmental objectives and concepts.
- Students are typically between the ages of 5-12.
- We provide an activity-based program with the newest Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) as a model.
- Registrations may be purchased as full season packages or by the month, with an opportunity to save money by becoming a GRPC Member. Individual session costs are listed as $30/per student per session for Member Households and $40/per student per session for Non-Member Households.
- Purchase Orders are available for those who qualify from Connecting Waters, Ocean Grove, Peak Prep Academy, and Valiant.

Our pilot program meets every other Saturday at 7:45 A.M. in Guadalupe Gardens just north of the Spring St. cul de sac off Coleman Avenue across from Target. (Google Maps directions here; see red pin on map below.) If the weather is good, we clean the park until approximately 9:15 A.M., unhoused neighbors receive stipends, then everyone enjoys a vibrant and growing community resource fair until ~10:30 A.M.

South Bay Clean Creeks Mid-Week Cleanup

Grab your oldest clothes and shoes and come join us for a creek clean up at Rubino Park. We have a mission to Reclaim, Restore and Revitalize our watershed. Many hands make this work a lighter task. Please join us!
Volunteers are asked to arrive by 8:45 am for a safety presentation. We will be providing trash pick-up tools, trash bags, gloves. Please bring your own water container and water! We ask everyone to wear heavy soled shoes, long pants, hat and sunscreen. The work will begin at 9:00 am, running through 11:00 am.
Please bring your cell phone for "touch-less sign in" and your own water. If you want, you can bring your own gloves and pick up sticks. We suggest you bring a mask because this is messy work!

Students build communication skills by working together on experiments and hands-on activities, with lessons encouraging students to form their own connection to nature while reinforcing environmental objectives and concepts.
- Students are typically between the ages of 5-12.
- We provide an activity-based program with the newest Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) as a model.
- Registrations may be purchased as full season packages or by the month, with an opportunity to save money by becoming a GRPC Member. Individual session costs are listed as $30/per student per session for Member Households and $40/per student per session for Non-Member Households.
- Purchase Orders are available for those who qualify from Connecting Waters, Ocean Grove, Peak Prep Academy, and Valiant.

Volunteer in the Historic Orchard under the expertise of Master Gardeners!
Help us maintain the River Park's Historic Orchard including: - tree planting and pruning - disease diagnosis and treatment - sun scald prevention painting - sheet mulching - experimenting with different types of irrigation or ground cover - grafting for improved pollination
Chaperones are required for those age 15 and younger. Restrooms will available in the Rotary PlayGarden starting at 10AM.
Please note this event may cancel in the case of inclement weather.
School groups or corporate teams must contact the Volunteer Coordinator at volunteer@grpg.org to schedule events.
