Special Needs Outdoor Learning Program

GRPC has started a new field trip program for persons with special needs! Those with Autism, Down Syndrome, ADD, ADHD, deafness, blindness, and mobility impairments can now participate in outdoor fieldtrips at GRPC. The Open Space Authority has worked with us to launch this program, funded by a generous grant from the Yahoo Employee Foundation.

River Explorers
Our first special needs field trip is River Explorers, a hands-on, outdoor program that takes participants down into the river to experience a riparian habitat. Students will learn about the wildlife community at the Guadalupe River and the biological adaptations of certain species. The field trip culminates in an actual river exploration, where students enter the water to get an intimate appreciation for the Guadalupe and the life it supports.
